In a way,
that doesn’t make sense to me. That
almost sounds like waiting until you have 3rd degree sunburn to put
on sunscreen. However, as a couple of
friends pointed out, that may mean that it is currently at remission type
levels. Or as my friend Lorie said (in
line with my analogy), it would be like putting sun block on when you aren’t
planning on going outside.
The other
thing Dr. Shah talked about was possibly giving me intravenous IgG (a component
of the immune system) to help me deal with my recurrent fevers &
infections. I’m not really sure what all
that involves, but Dr. Shah was planning on calling Dr. Cole, my wonderful doctor
here in Tulsa
My plan
right now is to go over all of this with Dr. Cole when I see him this Friday. He does an amazing job of “dumbing down” all
that medical jargon to help me understand it better.
That’s
all I know at this point. I will update
again this weekend after I talk to Dr. Cole on Friday. In the meantime, if you have any questions,

Jana - Hurray! That sounds like good news to me. Medical folks are usually so aggressive about "attacking" myeloma that this approach makes me think that you are at remission level - or lower. Giving thanks for this news and for your doctor there - a good and trusted physician truly is a blessing!

I am so glad you finally have your results back. I know this was quite stressing for you to have to wait, wait and then wait some more. Hopefully when you meet with your Doc from Tulsa he will be able to give you a better clearer understanding on all this medical jargon.
Sounds like good news to me. Any time you can not have treatment is good. Now if they can help you not be so tired all the time. Rebecca
That's great news! Maybe the good Lord is not finished healing it. He does it in his timing and perhaps it'll be gone the next time you have the tests done! Mm, I agree, no treatment sounds good but a long wait for you to find out, dear Jana. We will pray for simplicity and clearness of speech from Dr Cole. Lots of hugs.
I'm sure it is very confusing and distressing when you have an awful sounding diagnosis and they are saying no treatment for that is necessary at the moment...when what you want to do is kick that diagnosis in the backside! But it does sound like good news in that it doesn't need treatment, now.
I hope though that they can treat the symptoms that you have been having. Quality of life is so important!
My mom's slow progressing blood cancer started out the same way -- 13 years ago. We asked the same questions about treating it before it could progress. Her oncologist explained that various organs can be damaged by the treatment and it was better to preserve the organs by not doing any treatment until absolutely necessary.
Glad to hear that you don't need treatment at this time and pray that they can get you feeling better.
Will continue to pray for you and hope Dr. Cole explains everything to you.
